The Botswana Department of Meteorological Services (BDMS) is a government institution under the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) established through a National Meteorological Service Act, 2014. It’s a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
We provide quality weather and climate information through implementation of improved forecasting and climate services to enable customers/stakeholders to respond and adapt to changes in weather and climate conditions that affect their health and safety, well-being and socio economic activities.
As a champion for climate change the Department will improve resilience to climate change by improving readiness to withstand recurrent climate and weather related natural disasters. The Department also supports the process of raising awareness of key sectors of the economy to build resilience and adaptive capacity to the impact of climate risks and disasters
